Our Story
On November 12, 1997, Calvary Assembly of God Church was birthed out of the heart of our founding pastor, Ron Koebbe. The 17 members met in a small storefront located behind the Pizza Hut on Gum Branch Road. The Church soon outgrew those facilities and moved to 4075 Gum Branch Road, a larger storefront with more space for our children’s ministries. At the same time, the Church launched its first building project. This project consisted of 12 classrooms and a chapel and was completed in November 1999. Today it serves as classrooms for our elementary school as well as for the children’s ministries for Sunday and Wednesday Church Services.
In 2002, we launched our second building project which was completed in February 2004. This building presently serves as the sanctuary for Calvary and the future gymnasium for Living Water Christian School. As the church and the school were both growing in number, our third building project was started in 2006. This building was completed in August 2007 and serves today as the administrative offices for both the church and school as well as middle and high school classrooms.
As of today, we currently possess 20 acres of land, and we are in the process of acquiring more land in order to build the High School Building and a 1500 seat Sanctuary. We are excited and thankful for what God has done over the past 11 years as we have built buildings but what we value most are the lives that have been changed, the relationship that have been established and the impact God is making in Jacksonville. It is our prayer that the Lord would plant you where He wants you, so you can grow within His will for your life and perhaps that place is Calvary Assembly of God.
